CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

At Moksha Yoga Downtown, students of all levels and ability are honoured for their unique differences, limitations, and talents. All classes are suitable for both the beginner and experienced yogi alike (unless otherwise stated), so please come in and explore!

Moksha (90 min and 75 min) - Moksha yoga is a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Moksha classes are intended to open, strengthen and detoxify the entire body. All classes on our schedule are based on this amazing series of postures! Weekday 8pm Moksha classes will be 75 min.

Moksha Flow (75 min and 60 min) - The regular Moksha series is joined together with sun salutations. This class flows from one posture to the next, challenging your strength, while working with your breath. Beginners welcome.

Moksha Mix - This class will be different each time. Based on the Moksha sequence, it gives you the opportunity to try new postures and sequences while still maintaining a level of familiarity to encourage focus and concentration. Beginners welcome.

Moksha L2 - For those students who have practiced the Moksha series for at least 20 classes, the Level 2 classes are a venue for students to challenge their practice. The regular Moksha series acts as a frame for the class, while new and more advanced postures give the class a new and exciting flavour. Each Level 2 instructor adds their own flare, thus no two Level 2 classes will be the same. Expect longer holds, more meditation, increased breath work, advanced concepts and a great way to shake up your practice. Not suited for beginners.

Silent/Music - Music accompanies this silently-led Moksha Flow class, guided (without verbal instruction) by an instructor practicing the series at the front of the room. Students have the opportunity to be their own guide, allowing their breath to take take their practice to a deeper level. The added music creates an atmosphere that can be both soothing and invigorating. Some say the music helps them escape to a more meditative zone, thereby counterbalancing potential distractions - both outside the body and inside the mind. This class is best suited for students who are familiar with the series.

Karma - By donation ($8 min). Funds raised go to local charities. (No passes) Beginners welcome.

Moksha Drum - A Moksha Flow class accompanied by live drumming! There will be verbal instruction and adjustments by the teacher. Beginners welcome.

Yang/Yin - Moksha Flow (Power) followed by Yin. Yin is a practice where one holds certain postures for long periods of time, moving deep into the connective tissue. The class offers a balance between a strength based practice and a practice that moves more into flexibility and relaxation. Beginners welcome.

Kriya - A series of 18 postures with a focus on alternative pranayama (breathing) and meditation techniques. The series includes "asanas", physical postures of relaxation, "bandahs", muscular locks, and "mudras" gestures, all of which bring greater health, peace and the awakening of the principal energy centers, the "chakras". The room will be nice and hot for the kriya

Please note:
